Trips of China-Laos Railway surpass 38m

The China-Laos Railway has handled more than 38 million passenger trips, with travelers hailing from 100 countries and regions, ThePaper reported on Tuesday.

As of Aug 19, the China-Laos Railway has operated 56,000 passenger trains, with more than 38 million trips, since its opening on Dec 3, 2021.

The railway attracts 252,000 passengers from 100 countries and regions around the world and it has injected strong impetus into the economic prosperity of ports, cross-border tourism and people-to-people exchanges, according to China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Co Ltd.

To make the passengers travel in a smoother, faster, orderly manner and feel at home, the railway has launched many facilitating measures jointly with the customs and border inspection departments.

These measures include online booking customs clearance for inbound tourist groups, 24-hour barrier-free customs clearance, and the opening of the "Belt and Road" and 144-hour transit visa-free special channels.

The China-Laos Railway has become the first choice for people along the line to travel and study, as well as business and cultural communications, with its economical, convenient, efficient, comfortable and safe features.

Since the beginning of this year, the China-Laos Railway has sent 12.73 million trips, an increase of 11.9 percent year-on-year, showing strong growth momentum and broad development prospects.
