Belt and Road sees new Media Ambassadors Initiative launch
Seven journalists from Argentina, Bulgaria, China and Egypt jointly launched the Media Ambassadors Initiative on Friday, right before the 2024 Belt and Road Journalists Forum, which kicked off on Saturday in Southwest China's Chongqing.
The initiative promotes the role of media journalists as "four envoys" — advocating for them to uphold professional ethics, promote social progress, foster dialogue among civilizations and uphold fairness and justice through their news reporting. They would construct bridges for international communication and exchange by utilizing real and vivid narratives.
The release of the initiative marks another important achievement in the construction of the Belt and Road Journalists Network, the organizing committee said.
The Belt and Road Journalists Network is a global platform facilitating exchanges and cooperation among journalists. Launched by the All-China Journalists Association in collaboration with journalist organizations from the Belt and Road Initiative participating countries and regions, the network has already reached 1.65 million journalists worldwide, establishing itself as one of the largest global organizations for journalists.
The first batch of 16 consulting experts from the International Home of Journalists witnessed the release of the initiative, and the Secretariat of the Belt and Road Journalists Network presented them with letters of appointment.
At the 2023 Belt and Road Journalists Forum, Chinese and foreign journalists' organizations jointly issued a declaration outlining the development plan for the next 10 years, focusing on collectively advancing the construction of the International Home of Journalists.
And the hiring of consulting experts to form an "advisory group" is a strong measure to support the construction of the International Home of Journalists.
At the conclusion of the network's chairpersons' meeting held on Friday, 22 journalists' organizations that actively applied for the "International Journalists' Home" certificate were approved.
