Expert: West's smearing of China-Africa ties stems from jealousy

In a recent interview with #ChinaPerspectives, Ye Hailin, dean of China-Africa Institute at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that some Western media outlets are attempting to hype up the narratives of "neo-colonialism" and the "debt trap diplomacy" regarding China's engagement in Africa. This actually shows that the West is undergoing economic setbacks in Africa, much like in other regions. Faced with its diminishing influence in Africa, the West needs to find a scapegoat to conceal its incompetence. Envy, jealousy, and hatred—these three negative emotions sum up the mindset of the Western media, Ye said.
