Sept 1 marked the 10th anniversary of the Sanya International Duty-Free Complex. Over the past decade, the duty-free complex has welcomed over 70 million visitors, boosting the inflow of overseas consumption and supporting the prosperous development of Hainan's duty-free shopping market.

In a grand opening on Sept 1, 2014, phase one of Sanya International Duty-Free Complex, with a total construction area of 120,000 square meters, emerged as the world's largest single-duty-free shop.

With its immense scale, diverse brands, and advanced services, Sanya International Duty-Free Complex has elevated offshore duty-free shopping to a new level, becoming a new landmark and comprehensive tourist destination in Sanya and Hainan, further enhancing Hainan's tourism appeal.

On Jan 17, 2020, phase two of the Sanya International Duty-Free Complex opened, adding another significant tourism, resort, leisure, and shopping destination to the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Sanya International Duty-Free Complex currently hosts over 850 internationally renowned brands, offering a wide range of duty-free products, including cosmetics, luxury goods, maternity and health products, electronics, household items, and food, totaling hundreds of thousands of products.

Since April 2023, Hainan has added two methods for picking up offshore duty-free goods - "guaranteed pick-up" and "buy and pick-up"- making it more convenient for buyers. With multiple adjustments over time, including more categories, higher quotas, and convenient pick-up methods, Hainan's offshore duty-free policies stimulate consumer activity and inject momentum into the development of the offshore duty-free industry.
