13.1 million border crossings recorded during National Day holiday

The National Immigration Administration announced on Tuesday that during the seven-day National Day holiday, border inspection agencies nationwide recorded nearly 13.1 million entries and exits by Chinese and foreign nationals, marking a 25.8 percent increase compared to last year.

The holiday, which ran from October 1 to 7, recorded peak entries and exits on October 5, with over 2.03 million entries and exits.

Among the total number of border crossings, foreign nationals accounted for over 1.01 million, reflecting a 37.2 percent increase from the previous year.

Nearly 7.6 million border crossings were made by mainland residents, showing a 33.2 percent year-on-year increase; nearly 4.5 million entries and exits were made by residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, a 13.2 percent increase from the previous year.

A total of 574,000 flights, vehicles, ships, and trains were inspected for entry and exit, marking a 32.6 percent year-on-year increase.
