Volunteers gear up to serve at 7th CIIE
Volunteer representatives gathered on Oct 15 at the Friendship Hall of Shanghai Exhibition Center to solemnly pledge their commitment to serving at the seventh China International Import Expo.
The event marked the official initiation of the dedicated volunteers who will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the upcoming expo.
As of Oct 14, a total of 3,488 volunteers had been recruited from 43 local schools, according to the Shanghai Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League, which is responsible for the recruitment of volunteers for the annual expo. Among them, 564 individuals possess prior experience as CIIE volunteers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their roles. These volunteers will be deployed across 165 different positions spanning nine major categories—on-site guidance and consultation, exhibition registration management, guest liaison and reception, media support, trade data compilation, IT assistance, logistical support, administrative assistance, and medical and health services.
In the coming days, the volunteers will undergo comprehensive training at both the school and city levels to familiarize themselves with the layout of the venue, service processes, and their respective responsibilities. This year's training program aims to enhance the overall experience for exhibitors and attendees by placing a particular emphasis on enhancing proficiency in lesser-spoken languages, as well as optimizing contingency plans for language-related needs.
Over the past six years, more than 30,000 dedicated volunteers, known affectionately as "Little Leaves", have provided exceptional service at the CIIE, embodying the spirit of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress. Their commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, earning praise and recognition from both domestic and international guests as well as various sectors of society.
