Coffee festival showcases diverse and creative coffee culture
The 9th Lujiazui Coffee Festival's opening ceremony took place on Oct 23 at Shanghai's Lujiazui Central Greenland, bringing together over 260 selected brands, more than 100 boutique coffee shops and over 20 industry experts as guests, hailing from over 70 cities worldwide.
The event served as a platform for the exchange of creative ideas and the showcasing of the latest products among coffee enthusiasts.
Themed "open the window and see the world scenery," this year's festival offers a coffee extravaganza with a broader vision and a more diverse experience. Attendees can expect a wide array of coffee collections, ranging from classic Americanos to creative lattes and specially-designed brews.
Since its inception in 2016, the festival has transformed into a benchmark cultural experience in the coffee industry in Shanghai and China, drawing a cumulative participation of over 850,000 individuals.
During the opening ceremony, a global coffee industry development trend insight report and index were unveiled to highlight the industry-related data.
In 2023, China's annual coffee consumption reached 280,000 tons, with approximately 157,000 coffee stores nationwide, including a leading 9,553 coffee shops in Shanghai.
Furthermore, the scale of the coffee industry in China has reached 265.4 billion yuan ($37.3 billion) in 2023, an increase of over 30 percent compared to the previous year.
