State Grid Pingdingshan Power Supply Company conducts line safety inspections
Staff members from the State Grid Pingdingshan Power Supply Company in Henan province used drones to conduct special fire prevention inspections on the 220-kilovolt Wushuang transmission lines on Wednesday. The drones were used to conduct special inspections on the mountainous forest routes that were previously inaccessible during hiking inspections. Staff members also carefully examined the trees and flammable materials below the routes and eliminated any potential fire hazards on the mountain.
The autumn and winter seasons are high-risk periods for forest fires, posing severe challenges to the safe operation of the power grid. To effectively prevent wildfires and ensure the safe and stable operation of the local power grid, the company has made proactive arrangements and organized inspections in key areas.
Staff members are required to venture deep into the mountains, monitor the operation of line equipment, strengthen the inspection of the accessibility of line passages, clear flammable materials such as straw and branches within the passages and eliminate safety hazards.
Drones are utilized to conduct necessary inspections of the lines, efficiently identifying potential risks such as blocked passages and abnormal equipment heating. Local line protection personnel have been mobilized to identify fire risks around the lines and to establish smooth communication channels with relevant government departments to facilitate the sharing of information and resources. Publicity campaigns targeting residents in the area have also been conducted to prevent wildfires caused by burning offerings along the routes.
Furthermore, prominent warning signs have been installed in fire-prone areas to prevent wildfires. Additionally, the company has strengthened its emergency response mechanisms, conducted accident drills and enhanced its capacity and efficiency in responding to wildfire disasters.
As of now, the company has inspected more than 200 power transmission lines, distributed more than 400 wildfire prevention equipment, eliminated some 30 fire hazards and conducted effective inspections and cleaning along the power transmission lines.
In the next phase, the State Grid Pingdingshan Power Supply Company will continue its wildfire prevention efforts and further improve the wildfire prevention mechanism for power transmission lines. The staff members will conduct timely inspections and verifications of the equipment along the jurisdictional power transmission lines based on load, temperature changes and comprehensively monitor the operation of the equipment, making every effort to safeguard the electricity for power equipment and lines.
