The State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company recently carried out electrical inspections at the Songlin Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Liyang, Jiangsu province, to ensure the electrical safety of all drying equipment in time for the autumn harvesting season.

Qingfeng village in Nandu town, Liyang, is known for being the first rice-producing area in China's Jiangnan region (south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River). The end of October marks the start of the annual harvesting season in Qingfeng, where seven combine harvesters are currently working at full capacity in the rice fields. The harvested rice is loaded onto the transport vehicles and transported to the grain drying facilities. Drying the rice after harvest and storage is essential to maintaining its quality.

In recent years, with guidance and promotion from local authorities and power supply companies, grain drying has been largely mechanized, improving drying efficiency and saving energy costs, as well as reducing pollution caused by carbon emissions.

During the current peak period of electricity usage for rice drying, the State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company organized staff members from various power supply stations to inspect the electric facilities at the autumn harvesting sites. They installed missing warning lines, and provided voluntary maintenance for agricultural machinery cooperatives. They continuously maintained and repaired drying machines, hoists, rice mills and other mechanical equipment. The staff members also engaged in services with grain processing enterprises to address any electricity-related issues promptly. Additionally, for users with increased electricity demand during the autumn harvesting season, the power supply company offers fast online and offline transaction services.

This year, nearly 53,927 hectares of rice has been planted in the Changzhou area, with an expected rice output of 500,000 metric tons. Currently, all grain drying points in the city are operating at full capacity, and the State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company is mobilizing staff members from all jurisdictions to ensure reliable and stable electricity supply during the autumn harvest.
