Growth of China's tourism industry celebrated
Medical tourism has been one of the highlights of this year's China Pavilion.
Xu Weiping, the president of Xinhua Hospital, which is affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, said as a first-time exhibitor at the event that the hospital is taking the opportunity to promote Chinese medical expertise.
"Recent years have seen an increasing number of foreign visitors come to China to meet their medical needs," Xu said. "If the situation is serious, they will stay for treatment, otherwise, they will go around and experience China's scenic landscapes."
Xu said the hospital has expanded its international section, to cater to the growing needs of foreign visitors, who come from the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries.
Andrea Lekare, an exhibitor from Mexico, said she has been very excited to go around the China Pavilion and believes it's one of the best she has seen so far at the World Travel Market.
"There's a great opportunity for Mexican-Chinese cooperation in terms of tourism," she said.
