MCG, Arctique forge sustainable seafood partnership at CIIE
Membership store operator MCG, formerly known as METRO, and Arctique, part of the Western Norway Group, on Nov 6, signed a new partnership for sustainable seafood during the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Through this partnership, MCG will bring Norwegian Arctic Cod fish maw products to Chinese consumers. These products are sourced from the high-quality SKREI cod in Norway's Barents Sea, known for their sustainability while having a high protein and low-fat content, said the company.
Arctique is focused on developing and marketing fish maw products in China and has been awarded the "Seafood from Norway" certification by the Norwegian Seafood Council for several consecutive years.
MCG has long emphasized high-quality protein offerings in its stores, leveraging a global supply chain. Popular items such as French Silver Cod, Vietnamese Frozen Tiger Prawns and Fresh Salmon from the Faroe Islands are among its selection.
At this year's event, MCG introduced 118 products from 20 countries, with 41 products making their global debut and 17 appearing for the first time at CIIE.
MCG aims to introduce more premium international products to Chinese consumers, aligning with its mission to lead domestic consumption trends and meet the rising demand for quality-driven lifestyles in China.
