Zhejiang substation readies for winter peak
In preparation for the upcoming winter peak season, the 110kV Yongchang substation in Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has achieved significant progress in its autumn maintenance work.
Located 15 kilometers from Lanxi, the Yongchang substation is an outdoor AIS (air-insulated switchgear) substation that has been crucial to the local power grid since its commissioning in December 2005. The autumn maintenance aims to bolster the substation's performance, ensuring reliable power supply during the high-demand winter period.
The scheduled maintenance, taking place from Oct 12 to Nov 25, covers a range of activities including periodic inspections, upgrades to automation systems, and sequential controls.
"Our goal with this autumn inspection is not only to identify and address any potential equipment issues, but also to elevate our team's technical proficiency and emergency response capabilities," said Xu Jianhua, head of the State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Co.
"We are committed to meeting the highest standards and completing this maintenance work with precision and quality."
To maintain a safe working environment, Jinhua has implemented an "on-site control plus video supervision" approach, closely monitoring each phase of the maintenance that requires power shutdown.
In addition, the company is also incorporating new technology into the maintenance process, such as drone inspections and intelligent monitoring devices, to increase both efficiency and safety during operations, it said.
