Lindt to ramp up high-end chocolate business in China
Swiss chocolate giant Lindt & Sprüngli, as a first comer at the China International Import Expo, is looking to beef up its presence in the Chinese market to meet the rising appetite for high-end chocolate.
At the expo, the Swiss chocolate company invited one of only five Lindt Swiss Ma?tre Chocolatier's to host an exclusive master class and share knowledge about chocolates with attendants.
Thomas Schnetzler, a Lindt Swiss Ma?tre Chocolatier, said China has shown great potential as a market for high-quality chocolates.
"Many of our products with high cocoa content and reduced sugar are popular here," he noted.
"While existing products have been well received, we also see more potential for further localization," he said, expressing an interest in the invention of future potential flavors inspired by Chinese tea or local sweets.
According to him, Lindor is the top franchise both globally and in China and Les Pyrénéens is among the top three product franchises in the country.
Since its entry into the Chinese market in 2012, Lindt & Sprüngli has achieved strong growth by offering products of premium quality and exceptional flavors that resonate with local tastes.
To meet the rising appetite of Chinese consumers, the company also launched tailormade products celebrating Chinese holidays and introduced gift boxes in seasonal designs that deepen its brand presence in the country.
