Former foreign minister of Singapore George Yeo compared the Chinese and American views on war.

He noted that the US has a tradition of responding to challenges with force, while China views war as unwise and costly as reflected in the Art of War by Sun Tzu.

Yeo believes China prefers building relationships based on economic policies and mutual interests rather than military might. The US misunderstands China's rise, assuming it will behave like Western imperial powers in pursuing domination.
