Film event showcases Chinese culture to Jordanians

An event showcasing Chinese films kicked off on Sunday at the Taj Mall Cinema in the Jordanian capital of Amman attracting hundreds of cinema enthusiasts and university students.

At the opening ceremony of the China.Beijing Film Panorama, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Chen Chuandong highlighted the rapid development of the film industry in both China and Jordan, emphasizing their unique characteristics and bright prospects.

Chen notes that the showcased films narrate vibrant stories of social transformation in China, expressing hope that viewers find in these works a window into contemporary Chinese society, gaining deeper insight into Chinese sentiments and values.

Managing Director of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan Mohannad Al-Bakri says that the panorama is an opportunity for Jordanian audiences to learn about Chinese culture and explore the deeply rooted Chinese civilization.

Al-Bakri also says that he noted the existing cooperation between Jordan and China in film production and screening, and he expresses hope that the cooperation would continue.

Four Chinese films were shown during the two-day event co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Film Administration and the China Cultural Center in Amman in collaboration with the Chinese embassy in Jordan and the Royal Film Commission of Jordan.

The films include Johnny Keep Walking!, Lost in the Stars and The Goldfinger, covering a wide range of topics from romance to crime, from revenge to resettling the workplace ecology. Those films are recent box-office toppers in China.
