China Southern Airlines hosts guide-dog-themed flight event
Flight attendants shared with passengers stories about the airline's connection with guide dogs and a volunteer service project. Staff from the guide dog base in Dalian provided insights into the training and daily tasks of guide dogs.
China Southern Airlines' connection with guide dogs dates back to 2007 when its Dalian branch transported two guide dogs to Kunming, Yunnan province. It pioneered the inclusion of guide dogs and passengers on domestic civil aviation flights on the Chinese mainland.
Following research on the needs of visually impaired individuals, the Dalian branch initiated a guide dog volunteer service project in January 2012. Over the past 12 years, multiple groups of volunteers have engaged in various activities to support this cause.
