Chinese beverage brands spark craze in Indonesia

Chinese brewed-to-order coffee and tea beverages have created a trend in Indonesia in recent years, Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday.

Coffee and tea shops from China are fast becoming a distinct street scene in Jakarta, not only bringing a sense of 'sweetness' to local people, but also injecting new vitality to local development.

Chinese on-premise beverage and ice-cream company Mixue Bingcheng opened its first store in Bandung, Indonesia in 2020. To date, the beverage company operates more than 2,600 stores in Indonesia, making it the overseas country with the largest number of Mixue stores.

In addition, other Chinese beverage brands such as Cotti Coffee and Shuyi Tealicious have also entered the Indonesian market and become popular in the country.

High-quality beverages and affordability is a significant reason that has contributed to Chinese beverage brands gaining popularity in Indonesia. To maintain that popularity, Chinese tea and coffee enterprises have built a complete supply chain system, to achieve cost control and food safety.
