Watch it again: Special coverage of the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre victims
December 13 is the National Memorial Day and the anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, which took place in 1937. During the six-week massacre, Japanese invaders brutally killed about 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers.
A memorial ceremony is underway in Nanjing at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders to remember those killed by Japanese aggressors during World War II. In 2014, China's top legislature designated Dec 13 as National Memorial Day to keep the darkest history firmly in mind and cherish the hard-won peace.
