Hailed as one of the most important international auto shows in the world, the Geneva International Motor Show will open to the public on Thursday.

Car makers often choose the event to premiere new models and unveil the latest concepts.

French automaker Peugeot's compact SUV 3008 was named "Car of the Year" at the show on Monday. The title, regarded as the most respected honor in global automobile industry, has been awarded since 1964.
