Chinese made double-decker trains to be exported to America
CRRC Tangshan Co Ltd, China's first railway equipment manufacturing company, will export 45 high-speed double-decker trains to Philadelphia in the US, which will mark the first time Chinese made stainless steel trains will be exported to North America.
According to the company, the trains are expected to be delivered by the end of 2019, and will run through Philadelphia, Delaware and New Jersey, mainly used for people commuting.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority paid 1.1 billion yuan ($160 million) for the trains, with the possibility of the company ordering 10 more trains in the future.
Founded in 1881, CRRC Tangshan Co Ltd is affiliated with CRRC, China Railway Rolling Stock Co Ltd, one of the world's leading suppliers of rail transit equipment with complete product lines and superior technology.
The company was responsible for making China's first steam locomotive, the wheels of which were ironically made by a company in Philadelphia.
Its products have been exported to more than 20 countries such as Turkey, Argentina and Bangladesh.
