The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation is a great opportunity to revitalize the world economy after a lot of crisis by better inter-connectivity of international maritime roads in order to improve the international trade, and better connectivity between continents, cities and regions for more integration by building infrastructures to help economic development and people-to-people exchanges.

China's Belt and Road Initiative brings peace and inclusive development to the global family in order to share world economic growth in spirit of friendship, win-win and to alleviate poverty, terrorism and piracy.

As ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti in China, I will be targeting three goals in order to deepen our bilateral cooperation with China.

First, use Djibouti as an international maritime hub for the transshipment of goods coming from Asia to Europe and vice versa.

Djibouti is located at one of the busiest maritime roads in the world and daily more than 130 ships pass along Red Sea routes and through Bab El Mandab channel.

Second, build a virtual bridge between Djibouti and China in order to make Djibouti a logistic base for Chinese made products to Africa and Arab world. Our aim in mid-term is to be the Dubai of Africa to make it easier for Africans and Arabs to do their shopping in Djibouti.

Third, through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and Belt and Road Initiative, make Djibouti an international financial and banking place that will be helpful to facilitate trade and exchanges with Africa.
