A spiny grapevine in Hunan province that is more than 120 years old has been recognized by Shanghai Great World Guinness as the biggest spiny grapevine in China.

The old vine grows on the edge of a reservoir and covers an area of 414.66 square meters in Dasongpo, Hunan province.

The old vine has five main branches from the base. The longest branch is 23.4 meters. With its luxurious foliage and fruit, it is called "the century-old vine" by locals.

The spiny grapevine is famous for the thorns on its branches. According to local legend, Zhongfang county, where the village is located, has a history of more than 400 years in grape cultivation that can be traced back to the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
