A man in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, who purchased 770,000 pieces of information about students' parents, stood trial on suspicion of illegal transactions of personal information at the city's Pukou District People's Court on Thursday, Modern Express reported.

The 24-year-old man, surnamed He, bought 380,000 pieces of personal information of students' parents or 800 yuan ($128) from a friend, surnamed Yu, and sold them to a client, whose major business is in education and training when He and Yu both worked for an information technology company in August 2012.

He bought another 390,000 pieces of parents' information for 1,850 yuan in June 2013 to promote small loans after he moved employment to a bank.

Yu and He's boss in the information technology company, surnamed Zhou, who inspired He to purchase the information from Yu, has been prosecuted.

The prosecutors suggested a jail term of 10 to 14 months. The court has not yet announced its verdict.
