A surgeon has described a stillbirth-like malignant tumor, taking up five-sixths of a 12-year-old girl's abdomen, as the biggest he has seen.

Han Bingbing had been refused medical treatment by hospitals in Harbin and Beijing before being accepted by the Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on June14.

Han has a teratoma, a stillbirth-like malignant neoplasm which, according to Li Han, chief of the general surgery department at the Fuda Cancer Hospital, nearly fills her abdomen. Professor Li said Han's tumor is the biggest in his experience.

Han was a Grade-2 primary school student before suffering her illness in 2009 in Shuanglin, Heilongjiang province. She underwent six courses of chemotherapy but the teratoma continued growing.

About six months ago walking became difficult and her breathing became heavy. After having been refused medical treatment by hospitals several times, the Fuda Cancer Hospital agreed to take Han's case.

The treatment costs 200,000 yuan and would be a major issue for Han's poor family but a group of well wishers offered to collect donations which raised 30,000 yuan in the first day alone.
