BEIJING -?Tourism remained exuberant on the sixth day of the week-long National Day holiday with more visitors and ticket revenues, official data showed Monday.

China's major tourist attractions received 3.6 million visitors on Monday, up 11.1 percent year on year, said the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), which collected the data from 124 tourist sites across the country.

Ticket receipts at these attractions stood at 172.8 million yuan ($28 million) on Monday, up 4.7 percent from the same period last year.

In the first six days of the holiday, a total of 29.3 million people visited tourist sites monitored by the CNTA, spending 1.5 billion yuan on tickets.

The National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7 has become an annual tourism event for Chinese people, who are increasingly well-off and willing to spend more on leisure and entertainment.

The China Tourism Academy predicted that some 480 million trips will be made during this year's holiday and tourism revenue may jump by 20 percent from a year ago to 27 million yuan.
