Taiwan administration resigns en masse after election defeat

(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-12-01 16:14

TAIPEI - In an act of solidarity for the incumbent party's defeat in the local Taiwan election on Saturday, all officials from the Taiwan administrative authority resigned on Monday.

The officials, led by chief administrator Jiang Yi-huah who announced his resignation Saturday evening, said they wanted to take responsibility for their party's performance at the polls.

Jiang urged all department heads to remain in their posts until replacements were found. According to the island's regulation, Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou will soon nominate a new chief administrator and reshuffle the administrative agency.

Jiang was appointed chief administrator in February, 2013.
