Taiwan reappoints most administrators in reshuffle

(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-12-05 20:19

TAIPEI - Most officials from the Taiwan administrative authority were reappointed in a reshuffle on Friday following the ruling party's defeat in the island's biggest-ever local election.

The administrative authority announced the full lineup, including new deputy chief administrator Simon Chang, who was formerly in charge of the science and technology department.

Most administrators remained unchanged, except for those dealing with economics, the coast guard, science and technology, and culture.

Mao Chi-kuo was appointed as chief administrator on Wednesday, replacing Jiang Yi-huah, who resigned to take responsibility for the incumbent party's loss in the elections on Saturday.

In an act of solidarity, all officials from the Taiwan administrative authority resigned on Monday.
