Plan to rotate teachers is on the Ministry of Education's agenda and it will complete the process within five years.
The ministry is planning to encourage teachers and principals shift to villages to help rural schools improve the quality of education there, said Minister Yuan Guiren while participating in an online talk held by Sina Weibo, China's largest Twitter-like platform, on Saturday.
It will provide allowances or subsidies to teachers who will move to village schools and will also regularize the system, said Yuan.
Government Work Report this year said that China will continue to provide more teaching resources to the country's western parts, in a move to ensure educational fairness, said Yuan.
Besides, the ministry is going to narrow the teaching gap between cities and countryside through other ways, he said.
After China allowed couples to have the second child, the ministry has been studying methods to widen teaching resources to help schools and teachers cope with the expected increase in the number of students, said the minister.
During the discussion that lasted about one hour, Yuan answered 18 questions by netizens, said Sina.
