The trend of family-based tourism in China is becoming more prominent, statistics show.

The number of travelers per order in the past Spring Festival experienced a 20-percent growth to 3.5, according to Ctrip, a major Chinese online travel agency. Family-tailored tours and family-friendly high-end hotels are among the best sellers during the time.

Forty-four percent of the families with an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan ($15,000) showed interest in arranging at least one family journey in 2016, much higher than last year's 33 percent.

Ctrip and China Tourism Academy estimated the total outbound travelers from China to hit 6 million, with an increase of 10 percent compared to last year, roughly equals to the total population of Denmark.

In 2015, outbound family tours takes up 37 percent of all the orders with a rise of 6 percentage points, showing the growing willingness of parents to take their children abroad to travel.

Experts from Ctrip believe that it signifies the tendency of increased family-based tours. With the effect of the two-child policy, the family travelling market in China is expected to boost in the coming years.

Family-based travelers make up more than two-thirds of the tourism consumers in China, according to a survey released on Monday by China Central Television.
