Chengdu and Hangzhou are among the happiest cities in China, according to a survey co-conducted by Oriental Outlook magazine under Xinhua News Agency and Blue Book of Cities in China compiled by China Association of Mayors.

The study polled more than 11 million respondents.

The cities were ranked based on 50 indicators in 16 categories, including income, quality of life, tourism, employment, environment, public security, education, and transport.

1. Chengdu, Sichuan province
