Under the framework of “2003 Convention”, the workshop was held to fully implement and promote the spirit and values of the convention, as well as enhance Nepal’s capacity of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. More than 20 trainees from various parts of Nepal, including government officials, scholars, transmitters, along with representatives of communities and non-governmental organizations joined the workshop.
Richenel Crispo Ansano and Sipiriano Dominiko Nemani Ranuku, who were certified by UNESCO, gave training courses covering the basic concepts of the “2003 Convention”, post-disaster reconstruction and cultural policy-making. The courses were conducted through lectures, group discussions, fieldwork and interaction. Through in-depth investigation of the production and transmission of traditional mask making in Bhaktapur, trainees could further study and practice the relevant knowledge learned in the class.
