VIENNA: Oil prices are spiking above $70 a barrel for the first time since October. Benchmark crude for July delivery hit $70.32.
Prices jumped after a US report on Friday showed the pace of layoffs had eased in May.
The jobless rate, at 9.4 percent, is still the highest in more than 25 years.
