Media should foster friendship

By Li Xiaokun and Ma Lilao | China Daily | Updated: 2010-12-18 08:00

NEW DELHI - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday suggested that the media should not overplay China-India border issues and hopes it can make more positive efforts to help boost healthy Sino-Indian relations by enhancing communications.

"In recent years, there has been no conflict in the China-India border area. But the border issue has been hyped as a rather serious problem," Wen said.

He made the comments when talking with Indian cultural leaders and intellectuals including Shekhar Gupta, chief editor of Indian Express, a major Indian newspaper.
