Most frustrated Chinese on the Oscar stage: Zhang Yimou
Zhang Yimou has won many international awards but has always brushed against the Oscar statuette. During his golden period, he had received nominations three times for Best Foreign Language Film for Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern and Hero, never won. Zhang has never hid his desire for the Oscar although he has always lacked luck.
