TCM for lunch
A special culinary class explores the nutritional wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. While TCM adheres to no "one diet fits all" perspective, there are certain nutritional and culinary guidelines that you can learn and take back to your home kitchen. Sophia Du, chef at The Hutong, will teach you how to prepare three dishes focused on seasonal spring produce, while TCM practitioner Alex Tan will facilitate a discussion about the basic ideas and key principles of Chinese dietary therapy.
10:30 am-noon, March 6. 280 yuan (non-members), 220 yuan (members). The Hutong, 1 Jiudaowan Zhongxiang Hutong. 159-0104-6127. Thehutong.com.

Artist village tour
Unlike the public and commercial 798 art zone in Beijing, Caochangdi artist village is different and more private. The community is made up of prestigious freelance artists whose artworks have been sold to galleries in China and abroad. China Culture Center arranges a tour of the village through its connections, making appointments with some famous artists (including painters, sculptors, photographers and artists dedicated to the genre of performance) and visiting their homes to learn about their lives and artistic aspirations.
9:30 am-12:30 pm, March 8. China Culture Center, Inside the Maple Drive-in Cinema Park, 21 Liangmaqiao Lu (Road), Chaoyang district. 010-8420-0171. Chinaculturecenter.org.
