A traditional themed ceremony for a Chinese Autumn Festival was held on Saturday at the city center of Scotland's capital to promote the Chinese traditional culture and exchanges between Scotland and China.
Colorful performance of dragon dancing, martial arts, tai chi, singing and dancing, as well as playing of musical instruments, arts and Chinese traditional food attracted and amused hundreds of Chinese and foreign visitors at St. Andrew's Square Garden.
The three-day festival, opened on Friday, aims to celebrate the moon, harvest and family reunion in the autumn season. It demonstrated the richness of Chinese culture and the multi-cultural atmosphere of Edinburgh, and also marked the growing ties between Scotland and the Chinese side.
Both Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh Pan Xinchun and Depute Lord Provost Deidre Brock hailed the event as a nice channel to promote the familiarity and peaceful coexistence for the local Chinese community and other Edinburgh residents as Edinburgh is a multi-cultural city to welcome people from different countries, and a way for people to know more about China and its culture.
Organized by the Edinburgh Chinese Culture Association, the event was mainly supported by the City of Edinburgh Council, the Chinese Consulate-General in Edinburgh and Confucius Institute for Scotland, Edinburgh University as well as other parties from local communities and organizations.
