Cultural relics from 800-year-old ship on display in E China

More than 100 cultural relics from "Huaguangjiao No.1", a ship that sank 800 years ago, are on display at Nanjing Museum in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, on April 24, 2016. The vessel belonged to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). [Photo/Chinanews.com]

The ancient commercial ship was discovered accidentally by local fishermen in 1996, and its underwater excavation was of great significance as it unearthed nearly 1,000 ceramic objects. Later, ship was also lifted from the water.

The cultural relics and remains from the ship reveal China's trade with foreign countries along the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
