A new China Cultural Center, co-built by China's Ministry of Culture and Jiangsu provincial government, inaugurated in Den Haag, the Netherlands, on Thursday.

At the opening ceremony, artists from Jiangsu province brought to citizens of Den Haag Chinese traditional art performance including folk music, bamboo flute solo, erhu solo and Kunqu.

The audience greatly appreciated the adaptation of Paloma Blanca, a classic Dutch song introduced to China in 1982, with many of them humming to the rhythm.

"Culture is a bridge that connects people's heart and soul and abound that enhances understanding and trust between states and peoples," Ding Wei, vice minister of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, said.

He emphasized that China Cultural Center in Den Haag provides new bridge for deeper understanding of the two countries.

Wu Ken, Chinese Ambassador to the Netherlands, said the establishment of China Cultural Center in Den Haag reflects and conforms to the favorable situation and trend of Sino-Dutch cultural exchanges, which consolidates a new platform for future cooperation.

In March 2014, the two governments signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a China Cultural Center in the Netherlands.
