Spanish jeweler seeks golden opportunity in China

A decade ago, it released a "fire-dragon" collection that drew inspiration from Asian mythology. The series' big, bold rings and necklaces remain popular in Asia.
Carrera y Carrera displayed some trademark collections during the 2010 Shanghai Expo and discovered strong Chinese demand.
The company spent a long time determining the location for its first store in the country. Kuprianova says it chose Parkview Green because it's more like a place that welcomes art rather than a typical shopping mall.
It won't focus on sales quantity but rather treat the brand more like a club.
"We now have six experienced designers in Spain, and one has worked more than 40 years," she says.
"Every piece is handmade. We don't make jewelry for everybody but only for those who really understand the brand and appreciate the design."
