A high-end forum, focusing on the construction of the China (Fujian) Free Trade Zone (FTZ), was held in Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian province, on March 29.
The forum, co-organized by Xiamen University, Fujian Normal University and the Commerce Department of Fujian province, covers various subjects, including the FTZ strategy and global vision, the experience and regional features of Shanghai FTZ construction, cross-Straits economic and trade cooperation, and Fujian FTZ construction.
Scholars, experts and officials from across the Straits and the US gathered at the forum and brainstormed over the construction of the Fujian FTZ.
Keynote speeches on the central government's "Belt?and Road Initiative", how the free trade zone in Fujian can cooperate with Taiwan and how to develop the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road were also delivered at the forum.
The Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road were raised by Chinese President Xi Jinping during visits to Central Asia and Southeast Asia in 2013.
Fujian province, as a core area in development of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and a pilot FTZ, is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities.
