A look back
The third Common Homeland Forum was held in Pingtan on June 16, 2014.
With the theme of building a free trade port in Pingtan, the forum explored cooperation between Pingtan and Taiwan’s economic demonstration zones.
Some senior officials gave speeches at the forum, including Gong Qinggai, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and Chen Hua, a member of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee.
Pingtan has regional advantages and a solid foundation for cross-Straits collaboration. Hence local authorities will strive to build it into a “Common Homeland” for people across the Straits with favorable policies to boost economic and cultural integration, Gong said.
Chen Hua echoed Gong’s sentiment, and added that Pingtan has made progress in infrastructure construction over the past few years. It will strive to become a livable place for Taiwan people, and offer better service to Taiwan investors.
