A week-long cross-Straits exchange program opened in Xiamen on May 14, attracting more than 50 teachers and students from several universities from Taiwan including?Shih Hsin University, Ming Chuan University and Chinese Culture University.
The event was organized by the fashion college of Xiamen University of Technology and primarily focused on fashion and art.
As a major highlight, an exhibition featuring graduate works by cross-Straits college students will be held.
Su Jhianchou, head of the college of lifelong education at Shih Hsin University, said the activity enables students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to inspire each other with creative ideas.
According to Su, it's the first time for many of the Taiwan students to come to the mainland and gain a better understanding of it.
He hoped more such events will be held to boost cross-Straits cooperation and exchanges in the field of education. The exchange week will also include a summit themed on fashion, art and communication and a short film contest.
The event was first held in 2011 and is a characteristic brand activity by Xiamen University of Technology.
