Four teams from Pingtan No1 Middle School recently won top awards at the VEX Engineering Challenge of the 7th Asian Robot Championships in Macau – for the second year in a row.
The victories consolidate Pingtan's dominate place in the field. Last year a team from Pingtan won the national champion at the event.
A total of 300 teams from around Asia took part in this year's event.
The teams from Pingtan consisted of eight students - four boys and four girls – with two students in each team, and an average age of 15.
Nian Haokun and Chen Jiayan won top prizes in the high school category, and Nian, 15, is now a three-time national VEX engineering challenge champion.
He said that he enjoys the competition and hopes to study a major related to robots at university.
