A reading party organized by a group of Taiwan residents working in Pingtan was held in the Taiwan Innovation Park in Pingtan, Fujian province, on March 29.

More than 40 reading lovers from Taiwan and the mainland gathered together, sharing their own reading experiences and stories.

"It is the first time a reading party like this has been held in Pingtan, and I hope more reading lovers from both sides of the Taiwan Strait can join us and share the joy of reading," said Huang Shirong, one of the organizers.

A chat group named "Pingtan Civilization Reading Club" has been established on mobile messenger app WeChat, and anyone can apply to be a member of the group through the platform.

"Club members are encouraged to read at home and come share their reading experiences at reading parties, which are scheduled to be held every two weeks," said Xu Guirong, another organizer of the reading party.
