Linze county, in the Northwest China's Gansu province, is set to build China's 23rd national desert park called Xiaoquanzi Desert National Park. The proposed Xiaoquanzi Desert National Park was approved by State Forestry Administration and construction work is scheduled to start soon.
The park will sit in the middle of Hexi Corridor (or Gansu Corridor), a historical route running westwards from the bank of the Yellow River to Central Asia. The park expects to be an area with diverse landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, such as rare desert hares which can be seen in the park.
It is expected to take 7 years to complete the construction of the park, which will cover an area of 713 hectares and attract 146.40 million yuan ($23.35 million) of investment.
The park's theme will be based on publicizing science and environment, especially sand dune stabilization and vegetation restoration. It will allow visitors enjoy themselves in four functional zones: the desert conservation zone, exhibition zone, desert experience zone and service zone.
