Gansu invites Paris to Silk Road International Expo

Northwest China's Gansu province invited French cultural organizations, companies and artists to the Silk Road International Expo at a promotional meeting held in Paris on Feb 29.

The 1st Silk Road International Expo will take place in Dunhuang city, a resort city in Gansu, from Sept 20-21. It was approved by the central government and will be an annual event in Dunhuang.

France was invited to be the guest of honor for the first expo.

Sun Wei, the head of the Gansu Cultural Department provided general information about Gansu and Dunhuang during the promotional meeting and emphasized the services and exhibition halls to be available for France.

"The expo is the first Chinese platform for cultural communication and cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative region," said Ouyang Jian, vice Party chief of Gansu province. He said that Gansu sincerely invited its French friends to participate in the expo and visit Gansu.

"France's participation in the Silk Road Expo to be held in China will deepen the relationship between the two countries and advance their cooperation. The Silk Road is a route for trade and peace," said Guan Jian, minister of the Chinese embassy in France.
