On May 3 (local time in the Republic of Congo), CGGC No.1 Engineering Company succeeded in closing the diversion tunnel and filling the reservoir for Liouesso hydropower station of Congo-Brazzaville, indicating that the civil works of this project has been fundamentally completed.
To conduct a smooth implementation of tunnel closure and reservoir impoundment, the management division prepared everything in a systematic and comprehensive way and invited professional specialists to carry out the all-around and thorough quality inspection at the construction site. After the preliminary test, the management division immediately responded to suggested precautions and rectification opinions prior to retaining water and finished all corrections soon after. The project was finally in a condition for reservoir impoundment and accepted by the owner and the supervisor, gaining congruous praises from the owner, the supervisor, the newly-appointed governor of Sangha and local government officers.
The upper reservoir of Liouesso hydropower station has an installed capacity of 110 million cubic meters in total. It will take half a month to reach the high water-level as designed for power generation thanks to the current rains in Congo-Brazzaville. Consequently, the target is just around the corner to launch the first turbo-generator unit by the end of May.
