The city of Hechi and Bama Yao autonomous county, both in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, have been selected as nominees of the "National Civilized City" award for the 2021 to 2023 period, according to the Central Guidance Commission for Building Spiritual Civilization.

Hechi is among eight prefecture-level cities to be nominated, with the other seven being Beihai, Guigang, Hezhou, Laibin, Liuzhou, Wuzhou and Yulin.

Aside from Bama Yao autonomous county, the other eight counties or county-level cities in the region to be nominated are Fusui county, Hengxian county, Luzhai county, Mashan county, Mengshan county, Pingguo city, Tiandeng county and Xing'an county.
