According to the evaluation of domestic waste sorting work in Southwest China's Guizhou province released by the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Guiyang scored 79.5 points and ranked first in the province.
In 2019, Guiyang popularized domestic waste sorting in 3,049 communities, as well as sent special teams to Longshan village and Songbai village in Guian New Area, which achieved 100 percent in waste sorting knowledge coverage and over 95 percent in its correct waste sorting rate.
Guiyang required all districts and counties to enhance their domestic waste sorting work, achieving 60 percent of coverage in communities, government organizations, and schools.
Guiyang also designated people to be responsible in offices, residential areas, public areas, and businesses to enhance garbage sorting management. All the areas should be equipped with garbage sorting collection containers, as well as encourage residents to participate and develop the habit of garbage sorting.
