According to a report from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranked 10th among China's 168 cities for air quality in 2020, which is the second time that Guiyang ranked in the top 10 since 2019.
In 2020, Guiyang's excellent and good air quality rate was 98.9 percent, which reached the national secondary standard for the fourth year.
During the past five years, Guiyang has made efforts to prevent pollution and improve the city's environment.
Guiyang adjusted industry, energy, transportation and land use to accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading while also protecting the environment. Monitors cover all the roads to major construction sites, and all slag cars have been completely enclosed.
Also, 97 percent of the city's oil and gas recovery facilities are under steady operation, and 85 percent of rice production waste is being recycled.
